This might be the best ArcheAge demo video we’ve ever seen. Did you notice those corn stalks move when a player brushed them? How about the girl who climbed a tree to escape a giant angry spider? Maybe they should cut down fewer trees? Gathering and crafting was shown, as was the fruits of your labor: player housing!

Is ArcheAge going to be released for North America?
Anonymous asked this

At the moment XLGames has not released to the general public any official plans for ArcheAge in North America (or anywhere else outside of Korea). That doesn’t mean plans for ArcheAge’s global distribution don’t exist or aren’t being developed right now.

This image shows the day/night cycle in ArcheAge. It’s rather pretty, isn’t it?

Its going to be anything like Lineage ?
Anonymous asked this

Did you mean to say “will ArcheAge be anything like Lineage?” Well, which Lineage? Lineage 1 or Lineage 2? You probably already know that Jake Song worked directly on Lineage 1 and was present at NCsoft during Lineage 2’s development. Jake left NCsoft the same year Lineage 2 was released in Korea, however, and hasn’t had any control over the development of the game since.

Art design: ArcheAge and Lineage 1/2 will be somewhat visually similar due in part to the nature of the games’ content. All three games share a distinct Korean high-fantasy style. Another game that shares this style is Aion.

Story: ArcheAge’s story is based on the Korean myth of the creation of the world and the origin of mankind. Read about it! A popular Korean fantasy writer, Jeon Minhi, is working on ArcheAge’s stylized storyline.

Gameplay: We can’t say much about ArcheAge’s gameplay just yet, but you can see some fresh videos on YouTube. Early design documents called for eight races and two factions, but everything is subject to change based on how players react during betas.

Why you guys going to use Cryengine 2, It will need very good computer which maybe limit how many people can play it.
Anonymous asked this

Your question is two-pronged (and also worded like an accusation), so we’ll answer each part separately. Take your time when asking questions!

First, ArcheAge doesn’t require a super-new or expensive computer to play. Any well-made computer built within the last two or three years should be able to handle CryENGINE 2. Here’s the system requirements for the closed beta:

  • OS: Windows XP SP3 or newer.
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo or better.
  • HDD: At least 30GB of free space.
  • Memory: 3gb of DDR2 or better.
  • Video card: GeForce 8000 series or Radeon HD 4000 series or better with at least 512mb of dedicated graphics memory.

Now for your other question: why did XLGames choose CryENGINE 2 over some other, less-powerful graphics engine? The answer is simple: Jake Song’s vision of the world’s most beautiful MMORPG could only be achieved by using the world’s most beautiful graphics engine! Things have changed since development began on ArcheAge, of course, but at the time CryENGINE 2 was the most attractive engine on the market.
