Two new videos, one serious, one not.

Tencent Games finally released its new ArcheAge trailer, which is basically a summary of the game’s features and lore. It’s very well put-together, especially if you understand Chinese!

Meanwhile, XLGAMES released a fun little “dance party” video to drum up some excitement for CBT4. Don’t freak out, there probably won’t be raves in-game…probably. :P

ArcheAge China Announcement Trailer!

The rumors were false: Tencent is still publishing ArcheAge in China! Tencent Games held its annual press conference today and talked about all kinds of games that it’s publishing this coming fiscal year.

Not to detract from Tencent’s other new games…but the coolest item to come out of the conference was, by far, the following trailer. Brace yourselves for an unstoppable onslaught of awesome! ;)

Rumor Mill: Tencent’s future with ArcheAge in doubt.

As you might already know, last year Tencent had been announced as ArcheAge’s official publisher in China. The price Tencent allegedly paid for the rights to our favorite MMO was somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 million US dollars (the biggest MMO publishing deal in China since Aion). That partnership now seems to have been thrown into doubt, if you believe some Chinese news sites.

What happened? Apparently the news article about the deal was removed from ArcheAge.com, ArcheAge’s official Korean website. This has caused many to speculate that the deal has been called off. If so, some analysts believe it’s unlikely that XLGames will get such an abundant offer from a different publisher.

The publishing rights to Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are owned by GigaMedia Limited.

17173.com, 9/02/10

Chinese online game developer and operator Tencent (0700.HK) has licensed the mainland China operating rights to Korean developer XL Games’ MMORPG Archeage for over USD 40 mln.

XL Games said the two companies have already signed a confidential agreement and it cannot reveal the contents of the agreement.

Development began on Archeage in late 2006, which is slated for completion in 2011. The game began first-round internal testing in Korea this July.
