New ArcheAge Video from CGDC 2011
Wow, this video is pretty incredible. First you get a nice view of airships, then you watch player characters jump off and use some kind of upside-down hanglider to reach the city below! The video doesn’t stop there, though. Next up is castle building, specifically building sections of a castle wall. That’s exactly what people wanted to see! And finally, we get a glimpse of ArcheAge’s smartphone app that seems to let you pester your personal maid while simultaneously tweeting about how awesome ArcheAge is.
President and CEO of XLGAMES Jake Song, the iconic Korean developer who developed ‘Lineage’ and “Kingdom of the Winds’ gave a keynote speech at the 4th China Game Developers Conference (CGDC) at Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai on July 28.
Jake’s topic of the speech was about ‘Evolution of MMORPGs’ and marked the first Korean game developer to give technical speech in China.
During the speech, he addressed about the first and second generation online games. The first generation online games presented a virtual world for gamers making them experience the joy of online gaming. The second generation online games, the developers shifted their focus to providing more diversified game modes and content, while adding abundant directions for the games.
ArcheAge Book “The Fir and the Hawk” Available Soon
Everyone who has an account on ArcheAge.com should have gotten an email today that detailed a contest based on a book, but not just any dusty old hardback…no, this is ArcheAge’s first official tome of lore!
The Fir and the Hawk (전나무와 매) is written by Min-Hee Jeon (전민희), a popular Korean fantasy novelist and ArcheAge’s main lore visionary. The book is on its way to bookstores now, with the planned release date sometime next week, but ArcheAge fans can preorder it right now via Aladin.co.kr or AladinUS.com (Aladin is basically Amazon).
In the book, Min-Hee Jeon spins stories set roughly 2000 years in the past, fleshing out details of ArcheAge’s ancient lore, including the reasons behind the schism between the Nuian and Harihari tribes. The book is meant to be a supplement to the lore included inside ArcheAge itself, helping to explain bits and pieces that wouldn’t normally be known. In this sense the book was written for fans of the game, but anyone can pick up the book and enjoy it even without playing ArcheAge itself.

XLGAMES + T2 Interactive = Civilization MMO?
Do you guys remember that announcement a while back of a partnership between XLGAMES and Take-Two Interactive? The whole point of the deal was for XLGAMES to develop and MMO based on one of T2′s intellectual properties. Speculation run rampant as to what exactly the game was going to be.
Now we know.

According to Chinese and South Korean news portals, XLGAMES newest project is a Civilization MMO!
ArcheAge fans shouldn’t get their panties in a bunch over this, since XLGAMES is forming an entirely new development group to tackle this project. No one on the ArcheAge team is being repurposed, and our favorite MMO will continue its march towards perfection untouched.
