ArcheAge.com redesigned (again)!
With Spring comes a new ArcheAge.com website design! It thematically matches the redesigned logo (brand identity) and brings us one step closer to seeing ArcheAge in action.
Additionally, a small contest has been set up by XLGames to commemorate ArcheAge.com’s redesign. The rules are pretty simple: get your friends to register accounts and put your username in the “Referred By” field. (Contest only open to South Korean citizens.)
Finally, CBT3 random daily recruitment is still ongoing. Be excited!
ArcheAge gets new brand identity!
This is the official new ArcheAge logo. Is you can see, it’s quite clean and definitely a step up from the ones that came before. The center image is supposed to represent the world itself.
Basically XLGames realized the need to set ArcheAge’s logo apart from that of other MMOs, so they developed a new visual brand identity. Including this new design, ArcheAge has had three distinct public logos over its lifetime.
What do you think of the redesign? We’ll be updating this site’s logo eventually to match it. 
Correction: what we wrote about ArcheAge’s lore wasn’t entirely correct. The lore is an original creation written by a popular fantasy author.
Jake Song to deliver CGDC 2011 keynote speech!
Newsflash! According to the official China Game Developer Conference website, it seems that Jake Song has accepted an invitation to deliver the event’s keynote speech. That’s a pretty big deal, especially when ArcheAge’s future in China appears to be up in the air.

March’s Article of the Month from AAS
About a month ago ArcheAge-Online.com and ArcheAgeSource.com announced a monthly cross-promotion event. What both sites want is interesting, original content and articles written by enthusiastic ArcheAge fans. In order to encourage hesitant writers, ArcheAgeSource.com’s administrator has decided to reward one article writer per month with ArcheAge-themed swag, while we here at ArcheAge-Online.com have offered to “feature” the article on our front page.
The following example is the second article to be featured. It was written by a single AAS member: Shinaji. Follow the “continue reading” link to see it!
ArcheAge does use CryENGINE 3, XLGames confirms.
According to an article by ThisIsGame (a reputable South Korean videogame news site), ArcheAge does in fact use CryENGINE 3. We had speculated on the meaning of XLGames’ appearance in one of Crytek’s CryENGINE 3 promotional videos a few weeks ago. Now we know for sure that our favorite MMO does, in fact, make use of parts of the updated engine.
Since its original unveiling, ArcheAge had always billed itself as the premier CryENGINE 2 MMO. Now that XLGames has upgraded to the newer engine, ArcheAge’s claim to graphics fame continues to endure.
It doesn’t seem that XLGames had any difficulties switching from CryENGINE 2 to CryENGINE 3. The two engines are incredibly similar. For now ArcheAge’s CryENGINE 3 code is limited to graphics, animation, and physics. Networking and other miscellaneous subroutines remain unchanged.
XLGames won’t put the CryENGINE 3 label on ArcheAge until Open Beta.
